Sincerely grateful to be included in the new “As we Speak: Rap Music on Trial” documentary on @paramountplus I had no idea that a poem I recited at @leila_steinberg mic sessions 11 months ago would be included in a @sundanceorg selected documentary of this magnitude. More importantly, it is an honor to be involved in a project with such an important cause. Black music has been criminalized since it’s inception. Our art is surveilled and used against us to strip and suppress our humanity. This film both eloquently and authentically portrays our community while addressing the justice system that fails to protect and serve our people. @kembaland did an incredible job taking the audience through cultural history and current events. His poetry, narration and honest dialogue with Hip Hop artists in their respective communities was masterful. Was a mystic coincidence to learn he is also a @1beatmusic fellow. Much gratitude and respect to: Director: @jmharper DPs: @allisonandyou /// @logan_triplett Editors: emmaohsnap /// @gabbytesss I highly encourage you to take the time and watch. As We Speak: Rap Music on Trial Always an honor to represent @aim4theheartorg 🤎
