Daughters Out on Netflix August 14th 8 years in the making. Inspired by the incredible Angela Patton’s Girls for Change organisation the film follows the lives of four daughters of imprisoned fathers in the US. The film explores the need for the daughters to be connected to their fathers. Their need for that bond culminates in a father and daughter dance at the jail. No mean feat when you begin to understand how in-person visits are extremely rare. It’s a soulful experience. The film will challenge and educate as you experience and understand the universal human needs of these fathers and daughters. The depth and complexity of the issues these families face are treated with compassion and honesty from Natalie and Angela. Some shout outs to our creative collaborators. The poetry of the visuals from cinematographer Cambio Fernandez, Kelsey Lou’s beautiful score and Adelina’s edit, entwining these stories at a pace that gives you time to absorb and reflect. We feel truly blessed to have been asked to contribute in some small way. This is not the end but the start.
