Why #japan #mentalhealth is declining.... #longevity #interview #doctor. I interviewed a doctor here in Okinawa and asked him many questions about Okinawan longevity. Of course, our conversation veered towards mental health and I was surprised when he said how bad it is in Japan right now. One of the biggest reasons is the lack of social communication. THIS is exactly what I talked about in that viral interview video of me saying how I was depressed in Tokyo because of a lack of social connections (and ikigai). What he means about 'developing country' and no hope: In the full interview on Youtube, he says he observed that most people, even in Japan, have everything they need at their fingertips—phones, food, homes, television. This convenience has inadvertently diminished motivation and aspiration, especially among the younger generation. This trend isn’t unique to Japan; it's evident in the US, UK, Australia, and many other parts of the world. So, how can we reignite motivation? How can we restore hope?
