Shoot to Kill (1988) aka Deadly Pursuit was shot on glorious Kodak 35mm film. The film was directed by Roger Spottiswoode, writer of 48 hrs. The location where Tom Berenger is seen crossing the canyon you may recognize from the often overlooked classic First Blood. Aside from the extensive bushcraft and mountaineering training Tom underwent he also began his Jiu-Jitsu training here in preparation for a fight with Sidney Poitier. You can see the evolution of his skills in his most famous film, The Substitute (1996). Shoutout to
@RileyStearns for the tip. The Golden Goose though is this film filmed almost concurrently with The Bear (see previous post) and Sidney Poitier was able to visit their set in Italy during preproduction to develop a relationship with the animal that would eventually come to BC to film their big scene together.
