This used to be common practice. Scratching names into the inside components of electric guitars was a way for musicians to personalize and mark their instruments as their own. This was a way to identify their guitars if they were lost or stolen, especially when traveling. It was an easy way to claim ownership! Some people would even scribe their social security numbers into the guitars!
