A few months back, I was sent on an assignment for Atmos to document the open landfills that still exist in the northeast of Brazil. This was something I had wanted to document more of ever since I had a quick opportunity to do so last year. I felt there was a story that wasn't being told in the way that I saw. These images show a little bit of that. Nicole Froio also wrote an excellent and informative article to accompany these images that is on Atmos’ website.

Thank you to Barbara, who helped me with this story by interviewing some of the workers. And thank you, Daphne, for allowing me to do this story as I saw fit.
