It’s not to diminish a history of collaboration across cultures but rather it’s meant as an assertion. In this moment of creative dispossession ( AI, exclusionary festival line ups, etc), it’s more important than ever to underscore and centre that *contemporary pop* and electronic music as we know it stems from unattributed and co-opted black musical forms.
