This video captures the opening of Takashi Murakami’s solo exhibition of new paintings, “Japanese Art History à la Takashi Murakami,” at the Grosvenor Hill gallery, as well as his concurrent presentation at Gagosian, Burlington Arcade, and takeover of Gagosian Shop. Murakami kicked off his Shop takeover with the release of two hundred limited-edition T-shirts, while the Burlington Arcade marked the occasion with multi-colored lighting. During the opening reception at Grosvenor Hill, Murakami signed copies of “An Arrow through History,” a new catalogue documenting the 2022 exhibition of the same title at Gagosian New York, which comes with a trading card designed by the artist.
