We grow trees together Acrylic on canvas 여러명이 겹쳐 나무를 기르고 둘이 겹쳐 꽃을 피운다 @arivibe and I were talking about different kinds of love: those between friends and romantic individuals. For me bonds between friends - or love amongst multiple people- is like growing a tree. It’s a collaborative effort that grows something more solid, foundational, and fruitful. Romantic love between two individuals have always felt very fragile, yet delicate and intimate. Anyway, love always procreates. And we’ll grow trees together.

I spent a day at Naksan Temple. The temple was filled with people of all ages, each arriving with a different wish in mind, which apparently can come true if you buy the $5 candle from the temple gift shop: 
대학입학 (college acceptance)
건강기원 (better health)
사업성취 (business success)
소원성취 (wish fulfillment)
만사형통 (for everything to go well) Quite a grand wish, yet written as concisely as possible, because obviously Buddha only has time for a TLDR. Sitting in front of the 해수관음보살 (Seawater Bodhisattva), I watched as people lowered themselves, hoping their wishes would be granted. With eyes shut, they murmured their desires under their breath, hands pressed together in front of their solar plexus, kneeling on the ground. Three bows to the Bodhisattva followed, then their hands rose beside their heads, palms open.
