Wow, well that was fun! Last night, we kicked off Women’s History Month with the most magical event to celebrate our Incredible Women of 2024, in partnership with @debeersofficial. What an honour and ultimate career highlight to host an intimate dinner at the V&A surrounded by the most brilliant talent you could imagine. Thank you to all of our wonderful attendees whose trailblazing work we wanted to celebrate. Thank you to our very special guests, Kate Winslet, Gillian Anderson and Michaela Coel who gave moving speeches about fearlessness, paving the way for future generations and the inspirational cohort of emerging talent. Huge thanks to De Beers for this epic partnership, and the biggest thanks to team @netaporter for pulling this off so perfectly. A very special evening at the Fashion Awards celebrating the best in the biz, and more personally, seeing my darling dad recognised for his contribution to the industry. Thank you to the @britishfashioncouncil for honouring him with this special award, for working closely with my family and me to launch the Joe Casely-Hayford MA scholarship, and for hosting us all last night. I am immensley proud of my brilliant brother @charliecaselyhayford for accepting the honour and sharing such beautiful words. Thank you wonderful @pessiedu for introducing the award and tribute so beautifully. My dad would be thrilled to see a fellow Black British Ghanaian man flourishing as you are! Such a pleasure to share the stage last night with two utterly inspiring and brilliant authors @cocomellors and @bonnie_garmus_author for our latest Incredible Women talk. We laughed, we cried (when Bonnie shared a beautiful story of a reader who was so motivated by protagonist Elizabeth Zott that she enrolled in community college), I listened and learned so much. Thank you to the dream team @netaporter for putting on such an uplifting and invigorating evening. Thank you to everyone who came to the magnificent @vamuseum to join us. Love sees no colour 💚💛❤️🤍💙 Tomorrow, #TheMissingThread, a new exhibition masterminded by Harris Elliott, Andrew Ibi and Jason Jules of @wearetheboldagency opens at @somersethouse. It is an incredibly moving, immersive and multifaceted exploration and celebration of the impact Black culture and creativity has made in Britain. Looking at art, design, music and fashion, it amplifies the work of a roster of brilliant people - my dad included - whose contribution have often been overlooked and who deserve to be shouted about and woven permanently into history. I urge you all to go and see it. The deepest gratitude to @wearetheboldagency, and the army of amazing people who built this exhibition. Special thanks to my mama who worked non-stop to bring my dad’s genius and story to a whole new audience. Love sees no colour 💚💛❤️🤍💙

On September 21st a brilliant new exhibition, #TheMissingThread, opens at @somersethouse. Curated by @wearetheboldagency, it is an exploration of the impact and influence of black artists through music, photography, art, and design, from the ‘70s to today. It culminates in the first staging of my dad’s archive, celebrating his contribution to fashion. I’ve written a piece for today’s @theststyle about my genius dad and how important this exhibition is in spotlighting the talent of many black creatives who were often overlooked by the media and establishment. The biggest thanks to curators Harris, Andrew and Jason for their dedication and constant pursuit for excellence in the months and years they’ve worked on this must-see exhibition.
