Last Christmas, a cat and her four tiny kittens were brought in as strays at the beginning of December. Staff at Battersea rushed to ensure that all five cats were healthy and safe. The mother, named Noelle in honour of the festive season, was initially very nervous and protective of her young kittens. 💙⁣ ⁣ While she continued to nurse her kittens, now named Cranberry, Sprout, Tofurky and Parsnip, the family went to stay at a foster home where mum could relax and gain confidence in a home environment. This is where the festive litter spent Christmas, before returning to Battersea in the new year to find their new homes. 🎄

It was so touching to meet some truly beautiful creatures @battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The team showed me how they care for the rescued dogs and cats they are looking after. Colder weather can bring with it fog and darker mornings. Opting for a high-vis jacket or attaching a small light to your dog's collar can help them to be seen when out on walks. 🚨🌨️⁣ ⁣ Is your pup enjoying frosty walks? 🥶

We are very happy to share the news that Battersea’s alumni Chilli, has passed his six-month assessment as a Medical Detection Dog! Chilli joined @medicaldetectiondogs earlier this year and we’re so proud of the progress he is making as he trains to save lives. In his assessment, he demonstrated key skills including lead walking, waiting, public access and recall and he particularly loved his health check and groom! A big thank you to our supporters and players of the @peoplespostcodelottery, who make this impact possible for Battersea, MDD and other animal causes across the UK.

Battersea dog Quaker is feeling festive for #ChristmasJumperDay! 🎄⁣ ⁣ Dogs have their own beautiful coats of fur, so there’s not much need for much extra! You may want to put a dog coat during cold weather if you have a fine-coated dog. Always ensure that their coat or jumper is comfortable and doesn’t restrict them at all.

Even if your cat normally goes to the toilet outside without you needing to get too involved, it’s always a good idea to provide them with different options. A litter tray can help prevent accidents and reduce the risk of stress in your cat. 😺
