Drawing inspiration from one of Venezuela’s most enigmatic and mystical figures, María Lionza, goddess of nature, love, peace, and harmony — @sofiperazzo, @patriciamaria_, and @bymo___ began to see pieces of those around them and within themselves depicting the Venezuela woman as a powerful mother, yet a gentle daughter.

Inspired by their folkloric heritage, Venezuelan artists and creatives @sofiperazzo, @patriciamaria_ and @bymo___ reimagine the ritual Los Diablos de Yare, a yearly celebration that symbolizes the eternal dance between good and evil. Through their contemporary lens, women take the stage, and hair becomes the connective thread.

This Latinx Heritage Month, Venezuelan artists and creatives @sofiperazzo, @patriciamaria_ and @bymo___ have taken us on a visual journey of connecting back to their roots in homage and celebration of their home country that will always be one of their main sources of inspiration.
