Today we launched our Missed Birthdays installation live on @thismorning - raising awareness of the devastating reality of youth suicide in the UK.
In the last decade, 6,929 young people in the UK have taken their own lives. It’s a stat that underlines a devastating truth: so many young lives are ending when they should just be beginning.
Right now, suicide is the most common cause of death for those under 24. Each balloon in our installation represents a young person who took their own life, and a birthday they didn’t get to celebrate.
Parent. Uncle. Teacher. Coach. We all have a role to play in keeping them safe.
That’s why we’ve created the CALM C.A.R.E Kit - a free online resource that provides you with everything you need to be there for the young people in your life.
Use it and you’ll have all the info you need to be there for a young person - from introducing the topic of mental health, to keeping them safe in a crisis.

What do we actually mean when we say we can all play a part in preventing suicide?
We’re on a mission to help people end their misery, not their lives. But we can’t do it on our own.

“I’ve become CALM Patron because I don’t want anyone to struggle alone like I did for so long.”
Romesh is our new CALM Patron. You might be wondering why “that funny man off the TV” is taking a stand against suicide. Well, here, in his own words, is why he wants to normalise chatting about our mental health and make sure as many people as possible know about CALM’s life-saving services.

We’ve seen your Wrapped. Now here’s ours 👆
This year we listened. We talked. We helped give people hope for the future. So that no one feels like suicide is their only option.
And you made it all possible. By running, donating, singing, swimming and all the other incredible stuff you do.
But we can’t stop. Right now, things are tough for everyone.
With 1 in 5 people having suicidal thoughts, it’s never been more important for our life-saving services to exist.
👊 Your support could make a life-saving difference.

One of the loveliest things I’ve done, meeting people in Glasgow for this event in collaboration with @calmzone, who are there every day for anyone struggling with life.
Remember to always chase your dreams, and if you got one of the cards I gave out look back on it whenever you feel down - it’s a reminder that things can change, no matter how you feel right now. You’ll achieve more than you ever thought possible.

Feel like it’s relentless atm? You’re not alone.
Times are tough right now with pressure to grab “bargains”, buy gifts and keep up with what everyone else is doing.
People are feeling anxious, lonely, guilty and even worthless about their financial situation.
1 in 2 people with a mental health condition felt suicidal because of money worries last year.
Things need to change. That's why we're here to provide support.

Did you know that International Men’s Day and World Toilet Day are on the same day?
So - with a helping hand from @timesnewroadman and a Venn diagram - we’re celebrating both. And no, we’re not taking the piss.
We’re on a mission to fill toilets up and down the UK with CALM’s message.
Why? Because 1 in 5 of us have suicidal thoughts. So it’s more important than ever for us to let people know that if they’re feeling shit, our life-saving services are here to help - and give them a chance to offload.
Whether you’re standing or sitting - help us get the message out there by printing off a poster, pasting it on your local pisser - from the poshest pub loos to the bogs at your work - and helping us spread the word.
📩 Head to bio to download and let’s show people: when life’s shit, you’re not alone.

*Seriously. World Toilet Day does amazing things to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and make sure everyone has safe, clean, accessible and acceptable toilets.

Over the last three years, content creator and @yogscast’s very own Harry (or Barry 🤔) has made his live streams mean even more by raising money for CALM and our life-saving suicide prevention services at @jinglejamofficial.
So today we’re chuffed to announce him as our NEW ambassador 👏
Harry - alongside other creators - has helped us build a Creator Mental Health Toolkit that’ll help creators and moderators support their communities 🤝
“As a creator myself, it’s comforting to know that CALM is there to provide resources and support to the people in my community who need it. Conversations around mental health happen all the time online and being equipped to help is invaluable.”
