When the Lebanese model and activist #NourArida (@nouraridaofficial) moved to Paris in 2020, even though she’d never lived in the city before, she knew that she wanted to be in the seventh arrondissement. “It reminded me of home,” she says. And so the couple enlisted an old friend, the Beirut-based #AD100 architect Carl Gerges (@carlgerges), who would not only help them peel years of neglect off the apartment but also fashion a seamless blend of Lebanese and French influences. Band reunion Missing @firasfiras__

Merging his passion for music and architecture, Carl Gerges (@carlgerges) is redefining the recording studio as we know it. Previously a touring musician with the acclaimed indie rock band Mashrou Leila (@mashrouleila), these experiences laid the foundation for his distinctive approach to design. “One is simply the extension of the other,” he muses, emphasising the relationship between music and architecture. “Architects often use rhythm to create a sense of movement and flow within a building, much like how composers use rhythm to create dynamics and momentum in a musical piece.” Proportion, he explains, is another key aspect shared by music and architecture. “In music, proportion refers to the relationship between different musical elements, such as melody and harmony, or the lengths of different musical sections.” A testament to Gerges vision is the new AlUla Music Studio in Saudi Arabia, spotlighting his ability to blend architectural ingenuity with a deep appreciation for nature and cultural heritage.
