Cartulis Live Mix Series 007 | Sohrab For the next instalment of our Cartulis Live Mix Series, we’re thrilled to welcome Sohrab, a name synonymous with forward-thinking soundscapes and impeccable selection. This mix was recorded in May 2024 at the @Colourfulinc party at @tagchengduchina in Chengdu, China. Perched on the 21st floor of a building, TAG is a deeply underground venue. Born in Trieste, Italy, with Iranian roots, and shaped by years spent in London’s underground scene, Sohrab embodies the fusion of diverse influences. As a DJ, his sets effortlessly weave through genres, delivering potent, futuristic, and deeply energetic performances. As a producer, his signature melodic flair has earned him recognition on labels like @kalaharioystercult, @undersoundrecordings , and @thecomfort__ . Sohrab’s journey through some of the finest parties and venues, Undersound, Art of Dark, Fold, Les Enfants, Mtkvarze, and, of course, Cartulis, has cemented his reputation as a perfectionist whose music speaks louder than words. It took us a while to process everything that happened last weekend, and we’re truly overwhelmed by what we all achieved together. ALT Records Presents Its Fifth Release: Exercise in Futility EP by Uruguayan Artist Jorge Gamarra. ALT Records is excited to announce the release of its fifth record, a dynamic new EP titled Exercise in Futility by the talented Uruguayan DJ and producer, Jorge Gamarra. This three-track EP is a powerful showcase of Jorge’s unique ability to blend driving techno rhythms with electro elements, infused with irresistibly catchy melodies. Jorge Gamarra, originally from Uruguay and now based in Barcelona, has been a prominent figure in the electronic music scene since the late 2000s. His early influences from Chicago, Detroit, the UK, and Montevideo’s underground scene have shaped his distinct sound, which continues to evolve with each release. Since moving to Barcelona in 2014, Jorge has co-founded his first label, SUR, and in 2020, launched his own label, Coming From… Returning To…. Exercise in Futility exemplifies Jorge’s evolved production style, with each track offering a unique journey through sound. Mastered by Keith Tenniswood, the EP is designed to captivate dancefloors while staying true to Jorge’s deep-rooted influences and innovative approach to electronic music.

This month’s new episode is a recording from the second interview produced in collaboration with @dimensionsfestival. Both took place on site with a small audience, and it was really special to be participating in the festival via these intimate artist talks. This time around, I’m speaking with @unai_trotti and Sabri, co-founders of the iconic label and event series @cartulismusic. Instead of our usual focus on one topic, these on-site interviews act as artist profiles, delving into the label’s history and milestones including their upcoming 15th anniversary which they’re celebrating at the legendary FOLD in London on 23 November 2024.
