Home for the holidays 🎉! After spending more than 500 days in the hospital since birth, Aaliyah received the greatest gift of all - a heart transplant. To celebrate this incredible milestone, CHLA’s Heart Institute sent her off in style with a magical celebration fit for a princess. More than 25 years ago, CHLA established the first dedicated Heart Transplant Program at a freestanding pediatric hospital in Southern California. The Heart Institute continues to lead the way, ranking among the top pediatric cardiology and heart surgery programs nationwide by U.S. News & World Report. At CHLA, virtual reality is more than a game - it’s a powerful therapeutic tool for managing anxiety and discomfort during procedures. The experience is so immersive that team members in Interventional Radiology use specially designed VR programs to distract their patients from feeling pain during minimally invasive surgeries. VR can supplement and even fully replace anesthesia, meaning patients don’t need to fast, take medication, or budget extra recovery time. This makes these short procedures smoother and more comfortable!  As one of the only hospitals in the nation with a dedicated VR technologist, CHLA aims to expand the use of these technologies across the hospital to continue supporting innovative, patient-centered pediatric care.  Learn more on our latest blog post (link in bio).

Tis the season 🖤🎄 Last night at our annual Adopt-a-Family, we teamed up with @childrensla to create a magical holiday experience for 25 families, including watching our game in a suite and opening gifts from the players after the game 🤍

This Thanksgiving, a dozen CHLA staff members went above and beyond by giving back to the community. They joined hundreds of dedicated volunteers at the @HollywoodFoodCo's Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner, serving a warm, seated turkey meal to 300 individuals experiencing homelessness or food insecurity. The evening was filled with live music, festive cheer, and the spirit of togetherness, bringing comfort during a time that can often feel isolating. We’re proud to see CHLA’s team members commitment to care, both inside and outside of the hospital.
