Spending time with them in the grade never felt like work. This episode is unique in its structure and feels like a bit of a ‘gear-change’ in the arc of the series. Mary & George: The Golden City DoP: @adam_scarth_dop This was my first time working with Adam Scarth, and was one of the most nuanced, considered, and collaborative grades I’ve been involved in. Adam came to me with a series of grading references built from the dailies, and we used these as a reference point for each scene. Sometimes the finished grade was very close to these references, and sometimes we went in an entirely different direction. Sometimes we would grade a scene and then scrap it a day or two later and do something different. Every scene was considered in terms of how it related to the larger story, and I have Adam to thank for pushing the colour in a direction that I wouldn’t have arrived at alone. Grading without collaboration can get boring very quickly. As a colourist, the danger is that you’re not stretched and forced to look at things in a different way. @company_3 @herapictureslondon #cinematography #colorgrading
