#OFFTHEGRID [06.22.24] 99% of the time when I am hit with inspiration I don’t act on it. The idea is as fleeting as the few seconds that last while I envision a whole world of possibilities & movement in my mind. Whether it’s imposter syndrome, crippling anxiety, or self-doubt... I always find an excuse to not share my creative side. I literally keep it “off the grid” and let it fade into obscurity. Well this video is dedicated to that 1% feeling. Honestly the actual performances are usually a blur and the REAL core memories are the precious rehearsal times when we can allow ourselves to make mistakes, laugh, and vibe off each other. Those are the dance memories I remember & cherish the most. Nothing beats doing the thing you love with those who share that same passion and blood, swear, & tears with you in that room. [04.20.23] #MYDRUG Happy 4/20 everyone. I wanted to share a part of my journey with dance lately, specifically freestyle. Without it, I would of never managed enough confidence to get back to my professional career with dance. When I was told back in 2015 that I wouldn’t be able to ever dance again due to injury, it took a big chunk of me and kept me out of dance for SIX YEARS. But even just freestyling a bit here and there kept me sane enough until I picked it back up 100%. Even if I never book another gig in my life, I’ll be okay knowing this part of dance will never leave me. There is nothing quite like losing yourself in the moment, immune from those self-inflicted judgmental thoughts. Also if you make it to slide 10, you can see where my roots in freestyle began: in Church. All thanks to God for giving me the superpower of dance in life. It was an amazing experience to be up on that stage sharing what I love & I am forever thankful that God brought our journeys together.
