Another offline cut from my film ‘A Burning Thread’ that sadly feels even more relevant now.

In the 70s black and Asian communities - demonised in the press, attacked on the streets and ignored by the police - united to protect themselves.

We’ve had the National Front, the BNP, the EDL and now whatever this current mob of cowards are calling themselves.

In Punjabi we have a phrase: “the elephant has two sets of teeth: one for showing, the other for eating.” We’ve had the show, but still to reach the eating.

An unused offline sequence from my film ‘A Burning Thread’, exploring the racial tensions in education in Bradford in the 70s and 80s.

As described by Yunis Alam, the most real, baller academic you’d ever meet. A man who loves Stuart Hall as much as he does 2Pac and a two seater Toyota.

Sketching w/ @connornewall

Shot on a 30 quid camcorder yesterday borrowed from @nathandunphy

Pal Laurie on the guitar and synth in his flat.

Do what you can, where you are, with what you have…

SHAKA/ @triple01s

Inspiring to see this young guy from Ghill headline and sell out his first show since the passing of his best mate and rap partner Tyler.

One for the books.

Shoutout @shonauig and the legends at Progressive for the kit.

Proper journey to get here but my new film A Burning Thread will open at this year’s BAFTA qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival in November.

Exploring the 2001 Bradford Riots through the experiences of four generations of British Asian men it’s been a relentless but cathartic one to make.

Big thanks to BFI for the commission and trust and all the inspiring people in Manningham who welcomed me into their lives, shared their stories and poured me endless cups of chai.

Also a big shoutout to my long suffering Producer Shona, DOP Korsshan - shooting solo with no lights or camera assistant on the streets of Bradford - and friend/mentor Sam Blair @sameblair for pushing me in our endless chats.

Director - @ciaranpasi
Producer - @shonauig
Cinematographer - @korsshan
Executive Producers - Hannah Bush Bailey; John Archer; Shanida Scotland

With - Yunis Alam; Mohammed Qasim; Fabbeh Hussein; Karate Aki; @ali_smallz; @manny__ah; @the_real_mo_aliii

Myself and @meray_d have been running filmmaking workshops in Govanhill with Roma teenagers over the summer through @roma.voice.
Five young women have written, directed, starred in and edited their own short film in just a few weeks.
It’ll be showing Friday 12th in the old Phoenix garage in Ghill, now the @glasgowamis between 6&8pm.

Amazing what you can do when the opportunities are there.
