Thank you to @voguemagazine for featuring Alexandra and Stefans‘s wedding this week. The city of Seville lent a vibrant and textured backdrop to a weekend with a truly multicultural sensibility. @Alexandradorda was a vision in @moniquelhuillier and there was tremendous inspiration to be found in the corners of light and shadow at Casa de Pilatos— a true artistic marvel of a space. But even still, it was Alexandra’s kind heart and Stefan’s quiet tenderness that left the biggest impression on me. The couple and their wonderfully international group of guests meandered through the spaces enjoying one delight after the next, all to culminate in the courtyard dinner, magnificently designed by @matthewrobbinsdesign and @robbinsotoya This trip with @serenajae and @joshgoodencinema was a highlight of the season. As we begin to look back on 2024, we’d be remiss to not share more from our first wedding weekend of the year celebrating Caroline & Stuart in St. Barths. And celebrate we did! We share a love for the fabulous French island, its spirit and its natural beauty. We particularly enjoyed working with @esencial__hogar on a shell pink version of their embroidered cosmo linen and topped them with pearl white cabbageware plates and bamboo silver. Dining in the Sand Bar at @er_stbarths is eye-candy on its own, so it was our goal to add a touch of Caroline’s personal taste to make her guests feel especially at home. We’re thrilled to share that @hmrdesigns and @chereeberrypaper were a small part of this year’s White House Holiday Decorations. 🇺🇸 🎁🎄 The First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden called upon and entrusted @bryanrafanelli of @rafanellievents with the creative direction to bring this year’s holiday magic to the White House. ✨ In the season’s true spirit, Bryan invited a select group of designers from across the country to design a specific White House room. We selected the State Dining Room, and @chereeberrypaper did, too. Our teams jumped at the opportunity to collaborate and design the room together. 🫶 Our vision was to create decor that could be replicated in homes nationwide using old paper, newspapers, wrapping paper, etc. HMR Designs’ designer @barianjali shared, “We wanted to invoke feelings of nostalgia and childhood.”  🎄🎁✨ A touching story came when children across the country submitted self-portraits that adorned the trees. 🎄One of the volunteers working with us was a National Teacher of the Year from New Mexico. As she was working on the paper frames for the tree, she came across the portraits of a few of her students, which immediately brought tears to us all. 🥹 Adding to the charm, several paper doves from the East Colonnade “escaped” into the State Dining Room to bring the theme of Peace and Light to the mantel and set alight on the branches. 🕊️ The State Dining Room had:  ❤️ 35 volunteers from across the country involved in producing the HMR/CBP designs 💙The room represented 100 children and families from across the country ❤️ Featured over 5000 individual sheets of paper  💙 HMR worked with the White House curators to create never-before-featured window treatments for the room ❤️ Over 1000 pieces of individually shellacked pieces of candy Photography: @corbingurkin

This holiday season, the White House celebrates “A Season of Peace and Light,” and Rafanelli Events is honored to have collaborated with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to bring her vision to life. Under the creative direction of Bryan Rafanelli, we worked alongside a talented team to craft spaces that inspire unity, reflection, and joy. .. Guests are welcomed into the East Wing beneath a dazzling starlit ceiling, symbolizing the guiding light of the North Star. The Gold Star Tree, dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of service members and their families, shines brightly with ornaments inscribed with the names of fallen heroes. In the Blue Room, the official White House Christmas Tree dazzles with the whimsical Carousel of Light, celebrating the joy and magic of the holiday season. .. “Designing for the White House is an honor unlike any other. Every detail, from the peaceful sound of bells in the East Colonnade to the doves of peace in the Cross Hall, was chosen to tell a story of unity and hope,” says Bryan Rafanelli. .. This incredible project would not have been possible without the dedication and creativity of our team, the passion and expertise of our extraordinary vendor partners, and the tireless efforts of more than 300 volunteers from across the country who gave their time to bring this vision to life. Last week on a podcast, I was asked where I find inspiration, and honestly, it’s not really from wedding photography— maybe this isn’t the right thing to say, but hear me out. I think as artist if I’m only looking within the medium, only looking to imagery that sort of exists in this one space then I’m really not leaving myself open to bringing something new to that space— and an evolution to my work always feels like the goal. For me, it’s always about looking outside of that world— which is why you’ll pretty regularly find me making a portrait up against some wall that has nothing to do with the multimillion dollar build that a remarkable designer has created and is more likely some interesting light cascading against the backside of the bathroom trailers that seems to give some sort of feeling for me— photograph the space, then photograph the feeling… I try to find some way not to combine those two worlds so that each has its visual moment— which is why every January, I make my way to @flowerhousemexico for my annual creative pilgrimage. This year, it’s in Mexico City (my favorite city in the world) and it’s not just a chance to connect with other artists (though that part is amazing). It’s also my creative reset—a time to recharge, be blown away by the visual installations, and on a personal level, recreate to my mom-self with Emerson, who’s been part of every Flower House Mexico since its inception. I always leave feeling so inspired and ready for the year ahead. There are still a few spots open, so if this has been on your radar, now’s the time to join me there. Working on this tent design with Rosemary @rozespiller and her mother was an incredibly rewarding creative experience—one that will remain in the memory bank of our team forever. Their family home, along with a charming study designed by the Miller’s long-standing interior designer, @cathykincaidinteriors, inspired key elements of the wedding tent. We were determined to make this large, square structure feel warm, layered, and intimate despite its scale. Through lovely shared connections, we developed a collaborative relationship with the brilliant @lisafinetextiles. She uniquely opened the door for us to use her Persian Garden textile for our central ceiling coffer, around which the rest of the color palette and patterns danced. Her textiles were woven throughout the design appearing on chair backs, linens, banquette pillows, and even the hanging lanterns which will live on with the family for years to come. Everything about this design evoked the inviting charm of a residential setting. Working with the family’s longtime floral designer, Margaret of @kane.and.company, was equally meaningful knowing she fully understood the design directive at hand. Together we leaned into their residential aesthetic by incorporating shelving niches, interior sconces, banquette seating, beautiful espaliers, and citrus-adorned treillage in poignant moments throughout. @Stage_works did a phenomenal job fabricating our vision with detailed millwork, painting, and draping innovation as did our dear friends @technicalevent with their discrete and soft lighting approach. We are grateful to have shared in an endless affection for rich color, pattern, welcoming interiors and a fabulous dance party (a la @elanartists) at @rosewoodmansionturtlecreek. #augustacole #augustacoleweddings #augustacoleevents #dallasweddings #corbingurkin
