Some laughs amidst the blur of the past few weeks

A body of work I started in Sonoma is now available from @uprisenyc What has been interesting me lately is continuing to push my language of forms into more organic and sometimes even naive directions. These pieces are an intentional step away from the processes of mass production toward the notion of craft and tactility. I am fighting my instinct to pursue perfection and precision by consciously using tools that show the fallibility of the human hand.

Things came full circle when @andrewpaynterphotography shot film of me at @macarthurplace during my @uprisenyc residency this week. I first met Andrew in 2019, and we never could have made “Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life” without his artful and extensive photos of McFetridge’s work and world (that he’s shot for 15+ years). Andrew’s analog way off seeing is second to none. He’s a true talent and friend.

Residency: Day One - forms in need of finish. I haven’t made things with my hands in a bit. It felt nice to get back at it.
