DREAM (Does reality even accept me?) DREAM is a photo series that I directed alongside four talented creatives in the years of 2019-2021. This series showcases surreal imagery of the African Diaspora taking up space in avant-garde world. For a while I only thought that this project would only ever exist in my hard drive and in my head, but now I can proudly say that I get to debut it with DAZED… crazy The question, “Does reality even accept me?” is one that has been at the forefront of my mind since I can remember (I’m sure many can relate). Navigating spaces where I feel like I had to contort myself to seek attention became draining so I decided to create my own reality, my own world, my own spaces. Read the interview we got to have with a very phenomenal writer, @_gilbruno . I adored her ability to evaluate this body of work and apply her words. Thanks to the team @dazed for given us this platform! Happy Black History month.

Two months ago I debuted a solo exhibition for our photo series, “DREAM” (Does reality even accept me?), in Atlanta, GA. We premiered an exclusive film from the project in person only. YATTA, thanks for trusting me in co-directing ‘MTV’ with you. This journey is one for the books. When I first heard the album “Palm Wine,” (steaming now on all music platforms btw) in the studio at a listening session you had, I was taken back by how complex and diverse the body of work was. Working alongside you to produce this video made me question my work ethic and hunger. I have never seen anyone in my life push themselves and the others around you the way you do.
