BIRTHDAY ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐๐๐
.
A self portrait as weird as the times right now. Each year I feel like I've been given a new line of knowledge, a new sentence that helps me understand my life better. I look back on this book and love how many pages are filled. I love all the characters. New, old, even those who should not come forward with me, I'll slip out of them like a pair of jeans into silk. I can't kiss the names of the people I love enough. Even ghosts are made up of vowels and consonants printed in permanent ink. Especially now, I'm reminded that I am the main character in my story but I'm not in everyone else's. All I can do is be thankful and present. I'll dog-ear this birthday and remember it as one that was truly unique but still filled with overwhelming joy. ๐ค

I wrote this many months ago after watching Alien: Romulus. It never ended up anywhere (and could probably have used a good edit) but something compelled me to post it in full today. I hope I have the guts to keep it up. Maybe it was watching the Wisconsin Supreme Court debate reinstating a 175 year old abortion ban. Maybe it was the deaths of Josseli Barnica and Navaeh Crain. Alien has always been the mother of all horror films for me, maybe now I finally understand why. All thoughts are my own.

Thankful to my biggest motivator and brainstorm buddy, @lyzaster, whos own writing is a vivid tapestry sewn with a blood flecked needle and glittering thread. Otherwise known as the lalala to my okeokeoke.
