On Noveber 16, 3 - 4PM (CET), ANIMA SGN will present Enyang Ha @enyang_ha on @refugeworldwide on-site at Oona Bar. Enyang Ha, a South Korean-born Berliner, creates a fluid blend of pop, post-rock, and experimental music. Over a decade ago, she emigrated to Berlin to ingratiate herself with the city’s vibrant local music scene. Twelve years ago, Ha emigrated to Berlin to ingratiate herself with the city’s vibrant local music scene. She’d grown up in South Korea, but decamped to the USA - Kentucky, to be exact - when she was just 14, staying a while before moving to Tokyo to study. Now an in-demand technician who’s worked alongside boundary-pushing artists like Arca, Amnesia Scanner and Tzusing, Ha channels her experience and experiences into music that speaks to a diverse global landscape where borders are as malleable as warm gold. Her prismatic understanding of culture gives her sounds a sensitivity and vulnerability that’s universal but never ornate - she finds beauty in ear-splitting distortion, and complexity in sanguine radio pop. In 2023, she released her debut album “NAME OF YOUR LIGHT.” Singing in Korean over tightly-knitted backdrops of electronic percussion and symphonic modular blasts, she resolutely refuses to take a single path, using non-traditional compositional methods to reach remarkable sonic vistas. The album is informed by concepts of reincarnation and rebirth and constantly reinvents itself, absorbing radically different genres without losing its central, coherent thread. She wrote it while pregnant and raising her son, an experience that offered her both challenges and the courage to overcome them. “It’s not simple to find a path to be born again,” she explains. “It requires a lot of strength and will.”

I like to translate the emotional imagery into sounds, into sonic sculptures by creating dimensions and textures into envisioned space. I work mostly with mastering. Officially, I have my very first own mastering compressor preset! 🎉 Thanks for inviting me to create this together, @pspaudioware. I’ve been mastering an extensive ambient project the whole January - February. For ambient sound that is meant to soothe your delta waves, it is important to aim for round and warm sound without anything peaking out too much. But what if music feels still flat and some energy is missing? Of course boosting the presence frequencies to come to the foreground with an EQ would usually also be a solution but it won’t work too well either with such synth stretched ambient music because there is no certain transients to highlight. My key has been the Upward Expander. Expander is pretty much the opposite of compressor and Upward mode makes the louder parts even louder while keeping the quieter parts as they are, which gives more sculptural depth to sounds. So glad to share this finally. Have that Explosive Energy in your hands! Experimenting everyday at @urbiks__music ✅
