An interview from my recent show in China at Shenzhen Fringe Festival @szfringe ---- Evadney, a singer and producer based in Brighton, was prominently showcased on the Fringe Stage during the 2023 Shenzhen Fringe Festival. Collaborating with interdisciplinary artist @infinite_____vibes from Berlin, they presented a visually stunning and mesmerizing performance that felt like a dream. As the show progressed, peculiar yet elegant plants grew from seeds to lush and abundant fruits, creating a beautiful illusion of being in a fantasy forest. Evadney's musical style blends vibrant electronic music with atmospheric R&B, reflecting a futuristic mindset. The performance incorporated pioneering visual art elements to explore the artist's thoughts, dreams, and emotions. As the saying goes "India 𝘪𝘴 the Guru". I've never been so grateful, happy, challenged, and overwhelmed all at once as I have been during my time here. The thread of music and beautiful new friends and strangers was my anchor, saviour and joy at every step along the way. A real magical mystery tour. 2K24 ✌🏿 I'm so happy to have received the 'Develop Your Creative Practise' grant award from @aceagrams. At the end of January I will travel to India to begin study in the Indian classical vocal technique of Dhrupad, and a research period in Indian classical Rasa theory - the emotional archetypes as can be expressed and experienced through music. This is a real dream for me and my voice. This will also be my first time in India.  Dhrupad is the most ancient style of Hindustani classical music that has survived until today in its original form. The nature of Dhrupad music is spiritual. Seeking not to entertain, but to induce feelings of peace and contemplation in the listener. The word Dhrupad is derived from DHRUVA the steadfast evening star that moves through our galaxy and PADA meaning poetry.  Special thanks to anyone who's ever communicated with me about the way my music has made them feel, especially at live shows. These discussions were the fuel for my curiosity about emotional energy transfer through music and to become more intentional in this area. There is something about empty concert halls and stages before and after a show that I absolutely love. The very first moment I walk into the room I feel the energy of the show starts and it doesn't end until I leave late at night. I love setting things up and lighting is one of my favourite pre show discussions. And the stage itself is the supreme host of it all, the carrier of the drama. I feel the same when I go to watch a show; The empty stage before the lights come down and the buzz and the mess after the lights come up. Imagine all the energy of all the music and all the performers and all the audiences that stay as an imprint in a concert hall and on a stage. When a room is really beautiful I feel like I never want to leave it ✌🏿 Thank you @iiisolating for capturing these behind the scenes shots from China 🤍
