A little while back I had the pleasure of hosting a masterclass about The Power of Unlearning at @ten_women
It turned out to be such a warm and fruitful exchange. I shared insights about ways to uncover and change negative patterns using a cognitive psychological framework. In return, I got incredibly personal and vulnerable stories from the audience.
Thank you @douniamaakor for being the most wonderful host and thank you to the @ten_women team for creating a unique space for women to connect and learn from each other 🤎

Did you know @jtramaine and I have a podcast episode explaining in-group/out-group dynamics?
When I was a psychology student, one of the things I was most shocked to learn was that discriminating between different kinds of people is programmed within our brain (note that the hard- and software of our brain is often difficult to distinguish because of neuroplasticity). As it turned out, most people tend to discriminate to some extent, weather they intend to or not. How we then respond to the information our brains take in, is up to us.
As a social psychologist and child of multiple cultures, I like to think about ways in which we can enhance empathy between (groups of) people, because it can help break down the stereotypes and biases that fuel discrimination. And while empathy is not always a given, luckily there are many ways we can build it.
I love these eight words, as a simple empathy reminder - every time you look at someone especially with judgement.

I was gifted a golden smile that will last forever.”

still dreaming
🤍
There are countless things I could say about our union and countless people I’d like to thank. But no need to do alllll that on social media —you know who you are.
However…
Designing my dresses together with my mom (who is a fashion designer and also made both dresses by hand 🥺) was beyond special and thinking about it could make me tear up again. But it made perfect sense, as the whole event was a co-creation with our loved ones.
From two of my best friends @g.ohw and @nikitanaida directing and creating the decor to the perfect hairdo by @goldengiraffebeauty to the og’s that captured this day @valerie_abeji@mereldaantje@akadre.uno@mr_gibbs1 to our lovely planner @clarindaweddings to many more amazing people that helped make this day into a magical one.
A union does not exist in isolation. It’s inherently part of the village. Infinitely grateful 💎
When @vim.1.25 invited me to cphfw 🖤

Being part of a community of like-minded women has helped me connect about drive and purpose on a whole other level. I value TEN for creating a space filled with such openness, curiosity and eagerness to grow.
Plus can we talk about this LinkedIn profile pic upgrade we all desperately needed?✨
