Thank you @rudimd for inviting me to talk at @southlondongallery for the @new_curators programme. I started Satellite almost two years ago with the intention of connecting with people I admired and providing space for conversation. Since precariously hanging that first artwork on the wall I’ve been in a constant process of ‘figuring it out’, so to talk to the fellows on the programme and share some of the lessons I’ve learnt was validating in that it’s worth trusting the process. I look forward to sharing more of what’s to come. @new_curators @southlondongallery

I’m proud to share the Ministry of Sound 2024 Campaign Video ‘Esc’. Since I started at Ministry of Sound the brief has always been ‘show the club like never before.’ Over the past year this has taken form in many iterations but it wasn’t until I saw parallels between the human body and the club’s structure that we aimed to use dance to explore the space of the club and redefine peoples perceptions. By utilising the club itself as our ‘set’ I collaborated with Will Pegna, who beautifully choreographed the sequences we see here. These sequences were performed with an insane effort from the two dancers Delilah and Zak, and captured by using an array of cameras in the safe hands of Pete Butterworth. Thank you to Taylor for the constant advice and opening a door I didn’t know was there. And Simon and Natasha for trusting my vision and supporting the project from start to finish. I recently had the pleasure of directing a short film about @sambatley who will soon have his debut solo show in London, presented by @satellite.gallery and hosted by @photobookcafe Visiting Sam at his childhood home allowed us to connect in a way that goes beyond a gallery’s walls. Our conversation was a reminder that the work we see displayed is often the culmination of months or even years of personal journey and growth. Thermal imagery & BTS from ‘Ctrl + Alt + Del’ An essential part of the video was capturing diverse perspectives of the club. Whilst the dancers used their bodies to explore the scale and space, we enlisted an array of cameras to act as extension of the dancers, emphasising their movements and travelling further around the club beyond what was humanly possible. This was helped massively by the expertise of @beterputterworth and @curtisblair , utilising a range of techniques to make the audience feel both voyeuristic and immersed in the performance. One month since the relaunch of @satellite.gallery with the debut exhibition ARRIVAL. Next week I’ll be putting ‘Satellite’ to practice for our first international show of 2024 with none other than long time collaborator & artist @ezekielarchive Our first stop will be at @printedmatterinc on Thursday 14th March. Having scoured the shelves of Printed Matter for hours on end this time last year, it’s a pleasure to say @ezekielarchive will be in conversation with @georgiamoot to discuss all things SMUT, with focus on SMUT Volume II, Voyeurism. Finally, to bring the SMUT II tour to a climatic end we’ll be seeing prints from both SMUT I & II grace the walls of @olivershaw ‘s creative brain child @friendeditions on Friday 15th March.
