Walked 22 miles photographing how our mayor has treated our city, “The Disappearance of Mayor Adams” for @nytopinion@nytimes thanks to @sarabpix for the call and trusting my vision of NYC.

I recently rewatched my favorite movie, the 1959 film “Black Orpheus” by Marcel Camus and was inspired to revisit my project “Eurydice.” Upon rewatching the film, I had the feeling that this project was unfinished. The nature of the project was about how, with time, pictures change. As we look back at them, like when Orpheus looked back at Eurydice, their previous meaning vanishes and we see our past illusions. Revisiting these pictures I felt intensely the wish that, just for a moment I could relive the moments in which these pictures were made, though after a moment I thought to myself, these pictures are still with me. To quote @elicohen___ who spoke to me and wrote about this work a few years ago. “Don’t look back,” these pictures seem to say. “Keep moving, and see what you will find.”

FIRST COVER for @nytimes !!! With a very, very special story by @alexvadukul who’s heartfelt words shine light on this wonderful school we had the honor of profiling. It’s a beautiful portrait of the little known gem of a school, the High School of Fashion Industies! Alex’s words made me cry, with hope and joy.
Thank you to the tremendous @mattelife for the call, the intensive 1st edit, and the continued support, and to @tannercurtis for finishing and taking this to print!
P.S LOOK AT THE BEAUTIFUL WORK @cherkis DID!! Love that we get to share a spread for this ❤️

“Even without words there is a movie” — Out now is maybe my favorite @film_secession interview with the director Hans-Jürgen Syberberg. I was lucky enough to spend the day with him at his home where he grew up. He’s been restoring it to the state it was when he was a child. We ate, we drank, we toured his fields and his barn where he keeps parts of his old sets and the length of the interview was apt: 8 hours for a director whose average run time is 5. Here are some stills, BTS, and screenshots from his blog where he makes images from cameras hidden around his property. Learn about Hans-Jürgen, music, memory, myth and how film can help us understand the most complex and difficult moments in history.
Another one of @nycmayor as he left the courts yesterday for @nytopinion with works by Casey Michael — thank you @_eslahlahlah for the call and guidance.
Subway Safety for @nytopinion with writing by Nicole Gelinas. A tricky piece on a tricky subject. Felt like this piece was a reminder that photography isn’t meant to only illustrate but that it can tell its own story. Photo editors @sarabpix and @mattelife ❤️
