Monica. A film by Andrea Pallaoro. Shot in my hometown Cincinnati Ohio. I am so incredibly proud to have had a small part in this beautifully crafted piece. When we were making it I knew it was going to be powerful but GOD DAMN… The way this story is told, no spoon feeding, giving so much integrity to the audience, work like this is why I got into film making in the first place. @katearizmendi and @theboythatlovedmichelangelo pursued a visual style that is complex, challenges the viewer and pays off in a major way. @tracelysette and @clarksonpatricia deliver stunning, dynamic performances. The shoot was very challenging. Very limited resources. Ultra low budget shooting in a small market region during one of the busiest moments of the film industry in recent years. Local resources were pretty much tapped and we had to train most of our local crew. They really stepped up and helped make this film what it is. Finally seeing this on the big screen reinforced my true love for this art form. So so grateful to be a part of it. Thanks to producer @eric.b.cook and everyone that made it happen and especially @katearizmendi @yeaforbes and @j.ytc for letting me get my hands dirty. PIG - Released 2021. This was a special one. One of those projects that comes along once in a blue moon. Collaborating with cinematographer @patscola was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career and changed my approach to lighting. Shot in Portland, the place where I got my start. Working with homies, the family vibe, everything came together effortlessly. To Leslie - Released 2022. Had the pleasure of lighting this beautiful piece for cinematographer Larkin Seiple. The challenge: shoot 120 pages in 19 days on a tier 1 budget during the height of the covid pandemic. As gnarly as that sounds, the entire cast and crew buckled down and made it happen. Didn’t really have time to shoot any bts. Also I was pretty distracted by the cast’s incredible performances under such intense circumstances. National Anthem. A @lukegilford film. Words cannot express how much of a gift this project was. The entire production was a support system. Many people from different backgrounds were able to come together in the New Mexico desert and make words into images into life. @charliefplummer is a WORK HORSE, no pun intended. This is my second film with him and watching him carry a lead with grace and focus is always a treat. Thank you @katearizmendi for bringing us out, your eye and foresight never ceases to leave me in awe. And a huge huge thank you to our local NM crew for making this happen. You chose to work on our queer little movie over bigger budgets and easier schedules, I’m humbled and forever grateful. National Anthem drops this weekend, GO SEE IT!!!
