Lyssomanes sp. for #salticidsunday I think this must be the best portrait I’ve ever gotten of this species so I really hope it doesn’t tank. This beautiful male specimen paused for a moment while doing his grooming and gave me just enough time to pull off this pretty solid stack. I unfortunately haven’t had much time for macro lately as I’ve been super busy sanding and varnishing wood for the past 3weeks, hopefully I’ll be done with it soon and can go back to shooting a bit every day. I don’t see Glass frogs very commonly on our property so I’m always stoked when I do find one. I believe this is the Emerald Glass Frog (Espadarana prosoblepon) but please correct me if I’m wrong. How cool is this little stink Bug?! Swipe to see it’s awesome yellow tips. It probably belongs to the subfamily Edessinae but I’m not sure what species yet. This was quite a solid stack for me, somewhere around 70 images handheld with a manual lens. Like a fever dream by Salvador Dali, this little creature is utterly bizarre and fascinating. The incredible details making stacking a huge challenge, but very well worth the work! This is a stack of over 50 images, and I spent several hours on the edit and even then I still see some issues 😂 I believe this is Euprosterna sp. Slug Caterpillar, not a very common sighting as they can be really tough to spot! On a relaxed night walk near Cabo Matapalo in the Osa Peninsula, I came across this adorable little crab perched in the leafy shrubbery next to the path. I don’t think I’ve ever posted an image of a crab on this account so it seems like a nice little change. 🦀❤️ And yeah it may seem strange to see crabs in the forest but it’s actually quite a common sight here, there are several species which live out most of the year up in the forest and only come down to the coast when it’s time to breed! This weird alien creature is the nymph of a Fulgoridae which are commonly known as Lanternbugs. I found this one in the @rionuevo_naturereserve with my good friend @rafisteinles These incredible creatures are pretty hard to find due to their cryptic coloration and blend in to their environment extremely well! Pure gold 💛 The Central American Eyelash Viper (Bothriechis nigroadspersus) can be a variety of colors and this is one of my favorites! The yellow morph is a bit less common in the southern pacific region of Costa Rica and perhaps that’s why I love seeing them so much! This shot was taken insitu right next to the path in the garden of a hotel in Uvita. This little gem of a spider was living in the croton plant just outside my house for a couple of weeks but I haven’t seen it in a little while now so I’m glad I got this shot when I did! It’s a Jumping Spider which belongs to the genus Phiale, they are very colorful and can get fairly large for jumping spiders so they’re a real joy to photograph! Gliding Leaf Frogs 🐸 (Agalychnis spurrelli) Towards the end of a breeding explosion we found this beautiful couple in amplexus surrounded by eggs, I decided to use a wider field of view to show them in their habitat with some of the egg masses visible.
