Going home after a much needed family holiday. Much more needed than I realised. The chance to sit still as a self employed person can be a rare luxury. Anyone who is in the same boat as me will know this feeling. The guilt for not always working can eat you alive. I booked this trip 4 days before we flew out, because being frank, I was burnt out. I love what I do for a living. I’m privileged and blessed to have clients that trust me. This is something that has never been lost on me. But too much of anything with no down time, even if it is something you LOVE, will eventually wear you out. I was beat. Don’t underestimate the value of life outside of work. The past few weeks off has allowed me to recharge, unwind and renew. Making time to turn off from work every so often does make you a better version of yourself. A more attentive husband. A fun Dad. And obviously, an uncluttered mind ultimately allows you to give 100% to your work and clients, as opposed to a partially functioning zombie who never takes breaks. Feeling the most rejuvenated I’ve been in years, i’m ready to throw myself back into work, to give my clients the best version of myself along with the best output of work possible. The only difference now - I’m going to make time for doing ‘nothing’ every so often. Don’t be an idiot like me and burn yourself out. Take time to yourself every once in a while. Your mind, your family and your clients will all benefit. Ironically, after two weeks of being as far away from a camera as possible, I picked mine up on our final day. Simply to capture a few memories that I can look back on. Roll on the rest of this year. Apologies to anyone following me for car content. It will be coming back imminently.
