On a short film shoot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our day ends early due to extreme wind conditions. My friend and I decided to walk around downtown to get a better idea of the city that we will be sleeping in for the next four nights. It's my first time here and it's a much quieter downtown than what I would have expected. It's warm out, windy, dry, and in the distance, we can hear faint music and laughter coming from the partially filled bars on the main street.

Not sure what animal this furry leg used to belong to, but for certain it used to be part of a living breathing thing, something that would scurry about hunting for food and shelter. Now it's bones and fur left in someone's backyard. I wanna say it’s a squirrel.

Sometime around March 2020.
A huge comfort in my life around this time was the affection of my cat, Yoko. I particularly like this photo of her because it feels like a painting. Barely in focus, blurry from motion, yet there is something to the creaminess of the photo that just makes me feel like I'm wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket... But that is how everyone feels about their pets I guess.

On set helping some friends with a music video a while back. With a lot of downtime on this shoot, I decided to wander into what seemed to be a long-forgotten hidden courtyard directly behind the house. The space was filled with items that I'm sure everyone in the surrounding area had hoped would disintegrate within time. One of those items was this surprisingly hairy recliner. Looking at this particular item I was intensely bothered by the beard that it had grown, but also curious if people actually sat on it.

Sometime around the mid-year mark of covid, I can't remember the exact date.
A picture of my good friend Josh, whom I met on my Community Colleges debate team. On this day, we were celebrating another friend's birthday at a local park. I believe that is a long meat skewer of some sort in his mouth. I can't remember if we grilled anything that day, but I do remember an overwhelming feeling of something coming to an end. Almost like some sort of "last meal" motivated by the solitude of Covid restrictions at the time. The park benches here were removed at this point to dissuade people from gathering together, so we sat on the floor and had a picnic.

Sometime around March 2020. Another photo from the lockdown roll.
Driving to Dane’s apartment I see a dog running across the street carrying something in its mouth. I immediately pull my car over to the side of the road, grab my Nikon, and pursue on foot. I try to keep a distance to see if I can get closer without scaring it. Turning the corner I see the empty alley, the dog, and its prey.

Around March 2020.
Covid-19, lockdowns, spending my last two years of college stuck behind a computer, lot's of drinking, lot's of smoking, a whole heck ton of depression, a Nikon, some film stock, and a wide-open lens. #ilfordhp5 #nikon

In early May I was honored with the opportunity to collaborate with @dane.liberatore in making an incredibly emotional story. It was a tremendous experience with many roadblocks, which I’m happy to say we conquered. I’m pleased to share some of the stills from the project with y’all in a hopes that you will be motivated to see the full story. If you feel so inclined to watch it the link is in my bio.
A special thanks to everyone who helped me craft the image.

I went on a trip to Portland to visit my sister, Arielle. She is a wonderful human being, artist, and nighttime bench sitter. Same as myself, she has lived in many different places in her life. Moving from Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Isreal, Florida, California, and now Portland. It's hard to pinpoint where she is from or where she calls home. Searching for a place where you belong and your heart feels accepted is always a tremendous struggle but a rewarding one.
When I saw her sitting on that bench, all I could think about was the long journey that she has been through and the journey yet to come.
