2023 GALLIM Moving Artist: Marie Lloyd Paspe @mmmlloyd During her Moving Artist Residency, Marie explored what returning home looks like within the Filipinx-American and Asian American diaspora through her new work titled ‘bumalik: sirkulo’, a co-creation between installation artists @sabrinaherbosa and Antonio Giovanni Rivera of @alma.sphere and herself. Deep Relation | Ritual performance Piece Collaboration with @mmmlloyd & @dqgorelick This collaborative work illuminates the auditory and sensory aspects of women’s historic relationship with plant spirits and the intertwined nature of spirituality, creativity and medicine.

STONE BELLY showing excerpts tonight at @harlemstage at 7p here is to the Inner Ones in me who moved through mountains, demons, and harsh terrains to come together, and help each other. this year’s lessons were to open my heart in the darkest of moments. a few too many good byes, regrets, misunderstandings to then inspire a channeling inward: what would it be like to un-swallow? how have i protected my self against scars, my sacredness? what could it be like to re-member my sacredness lives within me, even when i am in the dark. this year’s lessons were breaking up the stones and pillars that have held me down, protected me. I know that by giving gratitude to these scaffoldings, they no longer have power over me. setting them free, they tumble away, eroding over millennia into the soil my descendants may stand on one day. thank you to those who brought such sticky stones in my life, thank you to the misunderstandings, thank you to my life’s crocodiles. 🔥SHE BREATHES FIRE🔥 Artist Feature: Marie Lloyd Paspe Marie Lloyd Paspe (she/her) is a Filipina-American choreographer, dance and vocal artist, educator, and writer currently re-rooting the brown Asian body in the liberatory practice of kapwa (Tagalog for ‘I and the Other are One’). She is interested in re-imagining forgotten memories that are sown into the genetic manuscripts of the body’s fascial maps. She is of Batangueña and Ilonggo lineage of Philippine islands Luzon and Panay. i will always remind you how brilliant you are. @treyalam thank you for sharing your music with the world especially when it’s been the hardest to do so. i’ve been a part of otherland since 2019 and have traveled America’s landscapes (and gorg venues) ever since. our crowdfunding campaign is in the FINAL WEEK to raise $3,138 to finish recording the full-length album of otherland. the record features co-producer @lilelenna, featured vocalists @allisonrussellmusic @abenakd, string arrangements by @ho_jen @chatrio , vocal arrangements by @sound.emeraldearth , features by Huda Asfour and @jlcreator among so many other brilliant humans. each artist involved has poured something unique of their own and it’s a privilege to help steward this gift and healing balm into the world. otherland is one of my favourite projects and i’ve been involved as choreographer, dancer, and vocalist since 2019.
