Here are 7 methods you can practice actively yet compassionately as we transition into the Fall and Winter seasons. What are some methods you find useful for your well-being? As the Sun falls shorter and the evenings become cooler, we get closer to stillness and are faced with deeper reflection of the inner and outer world.
These are some methods that allow you to come into a neutral state, while also embracing surrender ( #4 is my favorite ) 💌
1) Take your vitamins: D, B, C, and magnesium glycinate. As we receive less sun, it’s important to continue balancing the nutrients your body may fall short on
2) Waking up 2+ hours earlier than you did in the summer. This allows your body to naturally feel like you have the same amount of daylight, avoiding anxiety during daylight savings. 🌞
3) Surrender to the sensations in your body. Being gentle with our body and being compassionate with fragility. embracing discomfort and change through breathwork, the 5-4-3-2-1 method, tapping, or humming. i’ve found so much peace in zero expectations to energetically high, but rather neutral. Lately, I’ve been singing through the motions, especially Blues and jazz
4) Break the pattern of self-soothing through isolation. Reach out to a friend with a call or meetup — it’s a way to overcome vulnerability and embrace all the layers of your complexity with the right people. You’ll always be reminded that we thrive in community rather than isolation. ❤️🩹
5) Move your body! Whether through somatic shaking, dancing, hiking, running, walks, movement classes or anything you find keeps your energy flowing. My favorite? Early walks before the sun rises, when fog takes over and the world is still asleep. 🤸♀️
6) Reduce screen time — pick up an unfinished book or start a new one that inspires your creativity or connects you deeper to yourself and the world. 📖
7) Home made Teas. Working with plants and herbs teaches you how powerful their medicine is. Learn which herbs connect best with your body. For Fall you can try this blend : motherwort, marshmallow root, passion flower, cinnamon sticks, rose petals, orange peel, linden + a tsp of honey. 🍵🍂
