Final project for AMT juniors in Core Response taught by Carlos Franklin Sanabria (@mistercarrot) and André Lavergne (@typotrope). In their final project of the semester, “The Body Within/Without Nature”, students explored the relationships between their own bodies, nature, and the natural world. FASHIONABLE DISCOURSES 1970-1979 Rethinking the Archive of Vogue US Exhibition Talk & Vernissage 11 Dec 15:30 with Giulia Mensitieri @giuliamensitieri Opening dates 12-14 Dec 12 12:00 - 18:00 Galerie45, 45 rue saint Roch 75001 Fashionable Discourses is an ongoing project created by the MA in Fashion Studies at The New School Parsons Paris. It explores the shifting meanings of representations in fashion media, investigating canons of representation and their historical contingency. Each year students are asked to research and navigate the archive of a fashion magazine to monitor how - and if - today’s discourses about the environment, inclusivity and social justice were discussed during the pre-internet era. Are questions on sustainability, labour conditions, race and gender already discoursed in the fashion industry? If so, how were these representations constructed? And under what type of ideological regimes? This year, students were invited to explore these questions by looking at the digital (and physical) archives of Vogue US. 🕯️ A moment suspended in time within Atelier 11’s walls 🍷 The Salon 11 team is thrilled to share the teaser video for their immersive dining experience, created as part of the Parsons Collab class. Set in the historic artistic community of Montparnasse, Salon 11 brought the vibrant spirit of 1920s Paris to life at L’AiR Arts. Guests stepped into an evening of carefully curated meals, art-inspired conversation prompts, and a warm, intimate atmosphere that celebrated creativity and connection. This unforgettable project was made possible thanks to the guidance of instructors Stephanie Nadalo (@postmodernclio)and Carlos Franklin Sanabria (@mistercarrot), and the generous support of @lairarts . During the Sustainability Seminar led by Miriam Josi @mimivert MFA Fashion Design & the Arts students upcycled old pillowcases from Le Relais and experimented with natural pigments to create unique garments. Through this process, they reflected on the temporalities, limitations, and opportunities of upcycling, the value of craftsmanship, and the role of poetry. The project also sparked discussions on ecological impact, cultural heritage, collaboration, and how embracing imperfections and aging can inspire new narratives.
