At my core, I’m a minimalist and love design to follow suit. Less is always more and sometimes all the ribbons, bows, ties, acrylic and fluff is just too much. What a way to come back to work, our first wedding post shutdown. This beautiful wedding planned and designed by @simonelennonevents will be one of my favorites forever. I hand-painted the watercolor elements onto each and every piece of luxurious handmade paper. The text was letterpress printed onto the finished cards. It made for lots of texture and subtle color. It’s been awhile! I moved my studio in July and I’m loving my new space! The shutdown motivated me to finally move out of my former retail location (too big & $). It was a lot of work but worth the effort. I’m in the front studio of the building with lots of light & activity out my window. I’m still only 3 blocks away from home, so it’s a great commute. One of the best things to come out of the past year is that I’ve simplified my life - both work & personal - something I didn’t have the time or motivation to do in the past. Today was the first day in a long time (almost all year) that I was not consumed by my to do list. I just ended a marathon month with 16 events (day of projects) & production on over 8 mailings. This paper flower is my version of “stop & smell the roses”. It’s something unexpected that I added to a project and it brought me a lot of joy to make. It reminded me why I do what I do. People often ask me what I’d rather be doing when I’m not working (almost never). To be honest, I’m a maker and that’s what I enjoy doing most. Even when I’m binging on tv, I’m always doing something with my hands.
