‘Kochend’ solo exhibition by Rebecca Solari 02.11 - 01.12.24 @rebe.sola.trudi -> VERNISSAGE 02.11 / 18h !! ✨🌲 “[…] Finally, after reflection, he decided to throw the chewing gum in the compost. The gum arrived in the green, brown pile of verdure, and stayed pink. For a few days, I passed by and saw the chewing gum and stopped in front for some time. The chewing gum in the compost, what a great metaphor. lt was obvious and naive. He didn’t mean to do something wrong, to put it in the wrong place. lt was out of hope, of belief. […]” From the Master’s thesis ‘! A Myth, Again’, chapter “The Chewing gum in the compost: Failure” by Rebecca Solari, 2023. Rebecca Solari’s ‘Kochend’ exhibition takes up the activation of ‘fulmine’, one of Rebecca’s performative characters, in a different form. Using the metaphor of chewing gum in the compost, Rebecca questions the way the art world functions, the lack of radicalism in any discourse without activating it, and the superficiality of what is said with the aim of a so-called ‘artistic process’. Rebecca sees chewing gum as a potentially eternal element, brightly coloured and chemically perfect in its state, and compares it to the plasticity of works of art. Yet it ends up in the compost, where it is supposed to decompose cyclically. The gesture of throwing the chewing gum into the compost is the meeting of these two opposing elements, which represent a system normalised by fallacious, patriarchal and binary distinctions. Ultimately, the act of putting the chewing gum in the compost is an attempt to make a work of art function within an ecological and natural cycle of decomposition. Rebecca Solari
Rebecca Solari’s practice moves between performance, video, music, curation, and installation. By way of self-representation she explores different identities in relation to gender, class, and society. Her practice is driven by the desire to destroy established codes and to provide new opportunities for action. These topics are embodied in the performance character Fulmine, among others. Rebecca Solari is a member of the electro-punk duo Crème solaire.

For this year’s Swiss Performance Art Award, Rebecca Solari will present the performance “Solo Brodo (Boiling)”.   The Swiss Performance Art Award takes place on 20.10.24 @gessnerallee

Primordio e Parsimonia Primordio e Parsimonia est une ode à la libération de molécules, d’espoirs sombres et de mythes, présentée comme une composition d’opéra-trap-drone-trash. Rebecca Solari propose des tableaux absurdes en dialecte tessinois et français, oscillant entre le spectaculaire et son inverse, tout en explorant des idées pour sa future pièce, Solo Brodo. ↘︎ GREGORY TARA HARI & PINKY HTUT AUNG. Damned and Doomed Dans DAMNED AND DOOMED, Gregory Tara Hari et Pinky Htut Aung explorent les malédictions comme moyens d'affronter le chagrin et le traumatisme. Diplômée du Sandberg Instituut d'Amsterdam (@sandberginstituut) avec un Master en Dirty Art, elle évolue à travers la performance, la vidéo, la musique et l'installation.
