It’s painful to witness the destruction of our planet. Through stunning underwater visuals and an emotion-driven narrative, the short visual poem “Letter from the Age of Ecocide” offers a cathartic release for the grief we feel for Mother Earth. Director @dr.shireenrahimi draws on the wisdom of her ancestors, the ancient Persian poets, to guide her protagonist through the stages of ecological grief—moving from sadness to anger, and finally to radical acceptance. She learns to fight for what she can while accepting what she cannot control. This story is not meant to educate or diagnose, but rather to draw on ancient wisdom to illustrate healthy ways of coping with life on a wounded planet. This is the beauty of indigenous wisdom: it is a limitless source of guidance, persisting through planetary shifts and time.

Wildlife cinematographer Kalyan Varma (@kalyanvarma) shares his experience filming DisneyNature #Tiger, one of the most challenging projects of his career. While tigers may be relatively easy to find, capturing meaningful behaviors—especially of the adults—required extraordinary patience, perseverance, and precision.
Kalyan spent over 300 days tracking and filming through sweltering Indian summers and even COVID lockdowns, contributing pivotal moments to this remarkable documentary. RED's #HELIUM8K camera became an essential tool in his journey, delivering breathtaking imagery that brought the story of these majestic predators to life.
Special thanks to the entire production team for pushing the boundaries of wildlife filmmaking to create this unforgettable experience. [#TigerTakeover Post 6/6]

Capturing tigers in their natural habitat isn’t just about skill—it’s about courage, patience, and trust. “Working with remote cameras in tiger country is hard, hot, dirty, and often downright scary. But it’s the only way to reveal the secret spaces tigers call home. Sneaking into caves while the occupants are out, with the smell of musk and the prints of their massive paws all around, you know you’re truly trespassing in their world.” Through the knowledge and expertise of local guides and trackers, cinematographer Dave Mothershaw (@davemothershaw) and the “Tiger” team brought us closer than ever to these majestic apex predators. But their mission wasn’t just to showcase their power. “We wanted to inspire awe—and action.
This firsthand experience gave Dave a unique perspective on the wilderness and the incredible creatures that inhabit it. It was a reminder that filming wildlife isn’t just about capturing a beautiful shot—it’s about respecting the danger and unpredictability of the natural world, and understanding how critical it is to protect it. For Wildlife Cameraman Sam Stewart (@sams_natural_habitat) being involved with DisneyNature #Tiger was a childhood dream come true.
Sam “was totally obsessed with The Jungle Book as a kid. To find myself fully immersed in those same scenes as an adult was incredible—an experience I’ll forever be grateful for.”
Filming tigers in the wild came with its challenges. These elusive creatures are experts at staying hidden, but thanks to the unmatched skills of our local guides, we were able to get into position time and again. Even so, catching a clear glimpse of a tiger was rare—and the patience it demanded was immense. But the rewards? “It was mind-blowing every single time. Seeing a tiger up close in the wild, with the backdrop of the Indian jungle, was unforgettable.” [#TigerTakeover Post 4/6]

Filming tigers isn’t just about capturing an image—it’s about seizing the rarest of moments. “As a filmmaker, every shot with a tiger is a challenge. There are so many elements to consider—narrow forest roads, thick jungle, and the unpredictable nature of the tigers themselves. But when you’re lucky enough to be right beside one as it hunts, the whole scene transforms. Their focus and intensity are palpable.”
Director of Photography Tom Walker (@tomwalkercam) was given the rare opportunity to witness moments that most only dream of. “Filming a tigress and her cubs as they grew was one of the most rewarding parts. It wasn’t easy—these moments were brief and rare, but they were worth every second.” These moments may have been fleeting, but the impact on those who experience them through Tiger will last a lifetime.
