123 million people displaced. This is just one story of courage and hope.

Seeking safety from war, violence and persecution is your human right.
On #HumanRightsDay, show your solidarity with people forced to flee — and the right to safety, security and finding hope for the future.

#HopeAwayFromHome

If you lost everything, what would give you hope?

As the conflict in Sudan rages on and continues to tear lives apart, millions are left without hope.

UNHCR is on the ground with supplies, shelter and services, but it’s not enough to meet the mounting needs.

The world cannot afford to look away. Your support could save lives today.

If you can, please donate at the link in bio.

'Walthamstow' comes from 'Wilcumestouue': 'the welcome place.'

As Usman can testify, the area still lives up to its name.

He provides coffee and laughter to the locals and opportunities to refugees. When @haven_coffee was at risk, the community repaid him with kindness.

💡 Did you know? Uganda is Africa's largest refugee hosting country!

Here are 3 remarkable ways Uganda responds to the refugee crisis:
✔️ Offers land for livelihoods
✔️ Ensures freedom of movement
✔️ Provides access to education & healthcare

But with more refugees arriving daily, resources are stretched thin. UNHCR is on the ground to deliver life-saving aid.

Urgent support is needed.

Trigger warning: Accounts of sexual violence.

Healing, strength, and hope emerge even in the face of horrific gender-based violence.

This is the journey of survivors like Tausi, Maria, and Rose in northern Mozambique—a journey that mirrors the experiences of many women and girls in Cabo Delgado who have survived gender-based violence and are now reclaiming their lives.

You can help women continue their journey of healing and empowerment.

Stand with survivors and support organizations like UNHCR that are creating spaces where women can heal and start rebuilding.

Note: To report this story, women’s empowerment groups in Cabo Delgado were consulted and volunteers offered to share their stories. The names of survivors were changed to protect their identities.

"Sport gives me a sense of belonging. I dream of Somali girls playing basketball at the WNBA level!" 🏀

Saido Omar, a refugee advocate and basketball coach, is a game-changer in the sports world at Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. 🌟

As one of the first Somali girls in her community to step onto the basketball court at the camp, she’s breaking barriers and inspiring others to follow in her footsteps.

Through her coaching sessions, Saido empowers girls to dream big and use sport as a way to stay fit, build confidence, and unlock new opportunities. 💪🏽 Her vision? A basketball academy in Kakuma where girls from all backgrounds come together to play, grow, and aim for the stars. ✨

For Saido and the girls she coaches, sport is more than a game—it’s a way to build a brighter future. 🏀💫

🏅 From grassroots coaching to dreams of competing in the Olympics, Saido is transforming the sports sector and showing young girls that anything is possible.

“When we fled, we lost everything.”

Mariam fled the war in Sudan to Chad with her family.

For refugees like her, support from UNHCR and partners is vital in helping them rebuild, providing shelter and hope in the face of so much loss.
It is more than aid - it’s a chance to begin again. 🌍💙

I’ve discovered the recipe for a great time in Brazil: a cultural gathering with refugees from all over the world. 💖

Congolese actress @prudencekalambay and I cooked together with friends, preparing a traditional meal and inviting people from different countries to join us. The result? Delicious!

📍 Maiduguri, Nigeria

For families displaced by Boko Haram violence, the floods in Borno State brought new devastation. Thousands lost their homes and belongings overnight.

Now, hunger is rising fast, with thousands of children treated for malnutrition in Maiduguri alone. Families urgently need support to rebuild their lives.
