Avril 14th from Aphex Twin For the Origins Collection Stills from Origins project & Main talent: Takfarines Bengana / Rogier Bosschaart / Kwaku Broni / Ottawa Kwami / Chester McKee / Babacar N’Doye / Yura Nakano / Sacha Quenby / Mika Schneider / Moustapha Sy We shot the whole Orchestra performance between 2pm to 8pm on a Sunday in the Pool. On the last day of a four-day shoot. We used two 4perf 35mm cameras and maybe 10-12 film rolls (Maybe more? Igual más sí...) and a big crane for the occasion. The musicians nailed from the very beginning. No mistakes from them. The extras had a lot of patience too so big merci as well. Sitting, standing still, inside the water... I planned how to shoot it and the set-up in a notebook some days before. Handwriting&sketches. I explained to my friend Ryan, the cinematographer, and we took it from there. When we finish the third day, we went out with Ryan to disconnect ourselves. I showed him a couple of bars in El Raval. We shared some cigarretes&beers also with my friend Javier walking around the streets in Barcelona. Hablamos de... Probably we talked about love, life and the shape of the moon,... maybe books as well? We met again early in the am to revise the plan and shape it. Merci to Ryan, the production team, the art team, AD's, all the technicians, the stylists, the mua artists, hairstylists, etc, and all the rest of the team involved in this collaborative process that is the art of filmmaking.
