Now shipping ‼️ RZA’s debut classical album “A Ballet Through Mud” LP, via @36chambers 👐 🎼Originally performed by the Colorado Symphony, “A Ballet Through Mud” is a poignant coming-of-age story that delves into the complexities of love, the bonds of friendship, and personal growth. Featuring characters named for Greek musical scales, the piece echoes RZA’s journey from Staten Island project housing to refined concert halls – weaving in tales of love, loss, exploration, Buddhist monks, and a journey “through mud.” 🎶

For the first time the artistic vision of Dutch duo DRIFT joins forces with the music of U.S. producer and composer RZA. The seven large elements of the installation “Shy Society” in the courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi move to the rhythm of RZA’s symphony “Good Night 1st Movement” from the recent album “A Ballet Through Mud.” The choreography is inspired by the natural phenomenon of nyctinasty, in which flowers open and close in response to light. An experience that invites reflection on our relationship with nature, technology, music and the beauty that surrounds us. “Shy Society” is on view at Palazzo Strozzi, Florence, from October 24, 2024 to January 26, 2025. Thanks to Villa Lena Foundation for their valuable collaboration on this project. _ Per la prima volta la visione artistica del duo olandese DRIFT si unisce alla musica del produttore e compositore statunitense RZA. I sette grandi elementi dell’installazione “Shy Society” nel cortile di Palazzo Strozzi si muovono al ritmo della sinfonia di RZA “Good Night 1st Movement” dal recente album “A Ballet Through Mud”. La coreografia si ispira al fenomeno naturale della nictinastia, in cui i fiori si aprono e si chiudono in risposta alla luce. Un’esperienza che invita a riflettere sul nostro rapporto con la natura, la tecnologia, la musica e la bellezza che ci circonda. “Shy Society” è esposta a Palazzo Strozzi, Firenze, dal 24 ottobre 2024 al 26 gennaio 2025.
