💜The power of connection 💜 This week is Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Week. When I was first diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in my early 20s, I just sort of hoped it would go away. I didn’t want to think about what was going on - or engage with it. There’s no cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease, so I’ve got Crohn’s for life. Once I started to accept that, I wanted to reach out to other people living with Crohn’s and Colitis. There are more than half a million of us in the UK. All living different lives and doing our own fantastic things in our own ways. But we’ve got something really important in common, and we understand each other. Talking helps. Realising you’re not alone with this massive thing going on makes a huge difference. Together with the charity @crohnsandcolitisuk and my friend and fellow ‘Crohnie’ @tomspeightmusic - we decided it was time to share our experiences. Maybe you’ve just been diagnosed... Perhaps you’re worrying about your symptoms and you’re in denial like I was... You may be scared to vocalise what’s going on - believe me, I know that can be tough - especially as a young man.
