Recently, I worked on the graphics and editorial design for Kalkul’s feature in the latest New Order magazine. Kalkul have been close friends for a long time, and I’ve been involved in visually developing their brand from the very beginning, starting with the logo. It’s great to see their design, technology, and culture highlighted so concisely. Also, exceptional photography by @willgoodan as usual. Anhedonia pop-up is a small exhibition featuring new works that I’ve been developing over the past months. This marks my first public presentation since my first show at @so1 in November 2022. The collection offers a glimpse into the evolution of my collage-like process, layering inexpensive materials—primarily paper scraps and tape accumulated in the studio—with both found and self-authored fragments of uncanny language and imagery. These are repeatedly applied over each other resulting in bold, graphic, and maximalist compositions. Often starting with the cheapest of torn-up manga as a base material, these five new pieces expand my range of materials and, for the first time, incorporate acrylic painting into the process. I’d love to see you at the opening reception if you’d like to enjoy a drink and some tunes with us, or pop through any other time on the weekend of Sept 14–15. The café is open from 8am, and I’ll be hanging out from 10am both days. 「アンヘドニア・ポップアップ」は、私が過去数ヶ月間にわたって制作してきた新しい作品を展示する小さな展覧会です。これは、2022年11月の@so1での最初の展示以来、私の初めての公のプレゼンテーションとなります。このコレクションは、私のコラージュのようなプロセスの進化を垣間見ることができます。主にスタジオで集めた紙くずやテープと、見つけたものや自己制作の不思議な言語やイメージの断片を重ね合わせて、安価な素材で構成されています。これらは互いに重ね合わされ、力強くグラフィックでマキシマリストな構成が生まれます。しばしば、最も安価な破れたマンガを基礎素材として使用し、これらの5つの新しい作品は私の素材の幅を広げ、初めてアクリル絵画をプロセスに取り入れています。 もしお時間があれば、オープニングレセプションでドリンクと音楽を楽しみに来ていただければ嬉しいです。また、9月14日～15日の週末には、いつでもお立ち寄りいただけます。カフェは朝8時から開いていて、私は両日とも午前10時からいます。

I’d never once seen a video of myself surfing until now, and while it is as cringe as I thought it might be it’s also not so bad once you’ve gotten used to it? idk… I’ve really been trying to improve my surfing (longboard obvs cos I’m an old man) since the start of this year in Sri Lanka, followed by Mexico. This time in Lombok and last week’s retreat with @xanadusurf is kind of the end of the trip and a big birthday present to myself (since I’m all about self-love). Anyhow watch me try and learn to cross step for the first time while continuously looking down at my feet 🤙🏼😂🤡
