TRAILER: "The Call of Ice" - A virtual production fantasy film. Insane opportunity to be one of few directors who've gotten to make a film on an LED Volume, a technology that makes telling big stories more achievable than ever. Seriously, our dragon asset cost $40 online and came with the animations - all we needed to do was direct and place. We used a combination of fully CG shots, digital doubles, and more to blend the virtual and physical worlds. And we shot the full short in only 5 hours! Check out the trailer for my ocean conservation doc on the invasive lionfish species devastating the Atlantic. The lionfish invasion is one of the planet's greatest eco-disasters, ravaging already declining fish populations with their insatiable appetite. That's the issue at hand, but it was really important to me to create a film that focused on solutions and empowered viewers with the info needed to actually do something about the problem. Cannes! We got to attend the premiere of the awesome action/thriller "I, Executioner" - incredible fight scenes, and the dramatic elements reminded me of my favorite parts of anime. Keep an eye out for the film's release! Thanks @matthieumunoz for snapping these pics of us on the red carpet!

BEST DOC at AmPav's Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival! - because of this we have a special screening in PARIS tonight 🤩 - proud to stand among the other amazing directors in the showcase - who all happened to be women! -Bonus! The film I produced, Europa, was featured in Christina Lee Storm's keynote speech about emerging media at the festival. - Bonus Bonus! I also won an AI competition during the festival at the Cannes Next program?? (See slide 4 for one of my creations 😝) WHAT A WEEK!! New milestone unlocked! 🎆🎆🎆

I've never been the most tech savvy, but I took a course in virtual production this year to learn some new skills. It was one of the more challenging and frustrating undertakings I've had in a while, but after months of pulling my hair out, something clicked, and I'm really proud to have created this little short teaser for a much bigger story idea. I learned to build the setting, animate the characters, place the lights, place and coordinate the cameras - I know all of this is great practice for live-action filmmaking too because it helped me think bigger and test out a zillion shot setups. Highly recommend for pre-vis for any project - the software is @unitytechnologies and it's free. I love high-concept genres - fantasy, adventure, sci-fi, period pieces - which can be tough to achieve on an indie budget. In animation, no story is too large to tell. The sky's the limit!
