Lavaman 2024 you were SOOOO much more than a race for me. I am leaving here changed for the better. This journey has pushed my determination and my motivation to whole new levels. I have learned so much about myself in the process of getting here and I can’t wait to keep investigating my physical and mental strength. Every moment I feel sadness that this specific time is over, i review these pics/videos and am reminded how truly special this experience has been and exactly what I achieved. I want to be the type of human who leads by example. I want to always aim for the freaking stars. I want to do everything I decide to do at 100 percent. And I always want to be a student. So deciding to become a triathlete was no exception. 6 months of training, overcoming a fear of water, so many middle fingers to Haley, and a few rounds of tears …. I completed my first of many triathlons. I placed 9th in my division finishing at 3:10:29 and absolutely smashed my goal time at @lavamantriathlon . @haleynewch -NONE of this would have been possible without you. There is no way I could ever sum up the words to thank you for your belief and investment in me. You have been patient, kind, thorough, strategic, and supportive through this entire process and I am just so proud of you. Fait brought us together and I am so grateful to have such an incredible coach and a strong tiny buddy for this lifetime. You are such an inspiration to me. Shoutout to @jennmcclurephoto for being here and supporting me through this adventure. It meant a lot to have you with me! As I prepare to move back home for a year- I decided to do one more 10k race in La. One more medal to add to my collection this year. Last year at this time I was running a 9:30 average. What a joy it was to finish sub 8 min today. Training for the big guy starts in January. But this helped light the fire for me. One year older and so much faster. One foot in front of the other Sloan and anything is possible. #slayedbysloan

And I smell good…… #36. As I prepare for a very humbling and transformative year, it would be silly to not acknowledge that the journey has been joyous and beautiful. Life has a way of always catching me when I fall or always showing me light when I feel dark. To a year that will historically hold my first triathlon, my first year on 3 conventions, new friendships that I didn’t know I needed, making the decision to move back home, and falling for a man that makes me feel safe. Thank you to those around me who love me and let me love them. Thank you to all teams and studios who have chosen me. Thank you to every student who has let me lead them.
