February 21st Take it Outside with Avalon Emerson at Catch One 10-3am We could talk about Avalon being raised in Arizona, later making, releasing and playing music in San Francisco before moving to Berlin in 2014, or how in 2016 she released one of Resident Advisor’s Top 10 Tracks of the Decade, ‘The Frontier’ how she has toured the world’s most famous clubs and festivals and remixed the likes of Slowdive, Robyn, Four Tet, Lena Platonos and more. But it’s her 9000 dreams party and tour we’re excited to not only be a part of but to kick off its first 2025 date. Launched in 2019 it’s Avalon’s own international series of parties entailing all-night-long solo DJ sets along with lineups she personally curates. If you want to get in the mood seek out any one of her releases/remixes or her entry into the esteemed DJ-Kicks series from 2020 or her 2023 debut album, & the Charm. Avalon ‘s selections reflect a deep knowledge of house, techno, new wave, EBM and rave as well as the experience of an adaptable selector. Her style transcends the confines of time or genre by recontextualizing dance music from previous eras among contemporary sounds inc her own productions and edits. One thread flows through all though, a sense of fun, when Avalon looks into the crowd and flashes THAT smile, you know fun is at the forefront and afoot. LA’s James Axon joins us hot off the back of his Dec Planet Love party and series to set the tone for the eve, as well as Masha Mar and Heidi Lawden with one of their much loved B2B sets before Avalon trucks through till close. What a party! Thank you for showing up at doors and burning a hole in that dancefloor, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again when our @takeitoutside_la crowd mingles with our @thefactory93 it’s the greatest. It was a much needed coming together in celebration of or uniqueness and our oneness. Take It Outside summer series of parties flew by.
