Hello, 55x110 video clip 📹 Link in my bio 🌴

The LP Control Voltage’s third track, 55x110, depicts the overlay of the exact same sequence, one playing at 110 bpm and the other at 55 bpm. All the rhythms and melodies are based on the same arpeggiated notes, resulting in frenetic modular drum lanes and dissonant Prophet-6 chords. This triptych cycles through a 110-second improvised sequence, each iteration reflecting and refracting the rhythm’s essence.

A similar methodology was followed for the production of this clip. Visuals created by @loris_briguet were first processed by video synthesizers, before being arranged, projected onto a screen, filmed and processed again. The result is displayed on a cathode-ray tube screen as the final medium. The video clip shows the images after the first processing step overlayed over the television images. An abyss of synthetic audio-visual layers? Or maybe just a happy mistake?

Thanks for the infinite support of my dear record labels: @bleulagonrecords and @unptit.cafe 💙

A project also made possible by the wonders created by two incredible teams: @lzxindustries for the modular video and @squarpinstruments for the weird polyrhythmic sequences, thank you! (I wish I was sponsored but I’m not, pure love here)

Coucou,

This month, we have two Echobox shows. As a complementary way to support this month’s release, EXPTYII by GANJ, we’ll take this opportunity to catch up on what CAF?, the collective/label he co-founded, has been up to release-wise. We’ll also seize this opportunity to revisit our chat titled “In My City, You Are Enough”, with two of its co-founders, Hector and Pablo (who also created the artwork for the aformentioned release), as well as Sergey aka OPA CITY, who contributed vocals to EXPTYII on the track “Poussière”.

For those unfamiliar with CAF?, here’s a recap:

In French, coffee is called “café,” often shortened to “caf’” in slang, which shares its name with the Romandy-based (the French-speaking part of Switzerland) label CAF?. Based between the lakeside cities of Vevey and Lausanne, CAF? has been a dynamic Swiss music collective since 2017, curating a diverse selection of independent electronic music. With nearly a dozen releases and numerous events across Switzerland, they embrace an eclectic musical taste that keeps their horizons wide. Their releases can be described as:

Loud and funky. Soft and gentle. Impish and whimsical.

CAF? began as a group of friends who organised parties separately but always invited one another as guest performers. They eventually united to work more effectively for their local scene. The name CAF? symbolises their gatherings over coffee — “On en discute devant un p’tit caf’?” (Shall we talk about it over a little coffee?)—and has come to represent the foundation of their artistic project.

Tune in tomorrow at 4 PM for Pablo Perez aka Pablo Paresse’s takeover of the second Echobox Show. Pablo, who also did the first takeover back in May 2023, will be showcasing both upcoming and past releases from CAF? along with current favourites from Swiss artists and labels you should know about.

Wishing you a lovely day,
-Dee Dee

Storia is out today, digitally and physically!
available on bandcamp, link in bio

don’t miss VRVN’s concert tonight at Église St-François (Lausanne) at 20:00, organized by @association_du_salopard

After more than ten years, four albums and countless shows, Swiss artist Joell Nicolas takes a turn and releases her last album as VRVN. Despite being an ending, Storia is also a place for beginnings. For the first time, VRVN brings together her semi-modular synth with an acoustic instrument, but not just any: a church organ. Filled with air like a dragon, it becomes both emancipating and dangerous, weaving its sounds with synthetic ones, together with voices and lyrics: in English and –also for the first time– in French.

Three years of musical research condensed in ten tracks, sometimes structured as songs, sometimes as sensitive soundscapes. Stemming from an exploration of textures over structure, Storia meanders through intimate topics, such as, childhood, silence, risk, healing and transformation.

With the support of Ville de Lausanne and Canton de Vaud.

Composed and produced by VRVN (Joell Nicolas).
The organ is played by Elisabeth Hubmann and was recorded at the Jesuit Church in Sion with technical support from Hector Fassa
Mixed by Rea Dubach, Suze Studio, Biel
Mastering by Rea Dubach, Centraldubs, Bern
Design by Pablo Perez and Julien Fischer

→ VENDREDI 11 OCTOBRE 2024 : VRVN, vernissage « Storia »

all records of Ok Matthew’s new album are now finally ready! For this special edition, Loris Briguet designed an A1 double sided poster which, once folded, becomes the record sleeve. On one side you can find a picture of Matthew’s setup, while the other side is filled with texts and schematics elaborating on the process-making of the album.

The poster is digitally and silkscreen printed, and both @ok.matthew.ok and @loris_briguet folded them by hand with the help of other little magic hands.

Control Voltage will be out on Friday 6th September, and we’re gonna be celebrating in Paris at @petitbain , with some copies with us.

available on bandcamp, 200 copies only so don’t sleep toooo much :)
