Sure you’ve seen us do our code and tape shi but this, this was something different. . Everything comes full circle - from the wings on my back- to naming ourselves cell deletion (a process which a caterpillar undergoes in the cocoon) without the knowledge that we would write After Hunger. Months of composting grew the sturdy tree which this performance circulates around. Transformation is a feat of life and that we must become accustom with, something I am still learning and exploring. . Many thanks to everyone who helped us on this live performance . SHES WHAT I SMEARED ON THE WORLD. Film project Oct 23 with @xkastr0_ Extract from @doozymagazine written ever so beautifully by @comebeengone . This was a two part project exploring western and south Asian menstruation rituals and female empowerment, or shall I say lack there of within my culture. Part 1 depicts the use of a speculative ceremonious instrument to direct the bleeding towards the ground, whilst also building a feeling of pain through the journey. . The title was inspired by words taken from the 2018 remake of Suspiria: “She’s what I smeared on the world”. . Are we all smears on this world or can we be more? . . . . Stills available . Part 1: These extracts are from the film created through granular synthesis of clips and coded audio, inspired by papers read discussing historical rituals of free bleeding amongst western religious grounds.

The set is heavily inspired by the combination of events over the past weeks, the amalgamation of seeing this etching by Max Ernst in real life at the exhibition in Berlin and then stumbling across the most heartwarming bookshop @fixed_working_hours where in which I found a book that has stolen my heart and made me cry numerous times with passages that are so comforting to me. Stories of the sea and love and hoplessness and fire, written by Malcolm Lowry, begins with a fisherman’s hymn, and that my friends is where @celldeletion11 start a mystical journey through storms of code tape cello and voice. DIALLED IN 07/09 . So grateful to be part of the line up in the Hot House curated by @paulpurgas . Means a lot to be playing in a space such as this for such a great event giving us a platform especially in such rogue times within the city. Even more reason to stand proud of who we are and where we come from. .
