What a wonderful closing of 2024. New friends, new thoughts, great music, delicious food, thought provoking panels and workshops. And all of this in the most stunning location 2000m above the sea. I’ve been selected for this year’s Talent Village in Les Arcs. It is a program during the @lesarcsfilmfest where I will be working on some film music ideas with two out of eight directors, alongside three other composers. I heard only good things about this very special film festival high up in the french alps (it’s also where Force Majeure was shot), so it’s needless to say that I am beyond excited! I am very grateful for @ivlesarcs to choose me for this, thank you! Also, I’m very much looking forward to meet the other composers, all the directors and everyone else who is planning to be there. Although I’ve been working from my new studio for almost half a year, I never got around sharing pictures from this place at Frank-Zappa-Straße (yep, that’s the name). It’s really good to finally have a cozy long term place where I can invent, produce and mix music 24/7. Also, it is a 5.1 system for all your crazy 360 degrees film score needs, yey. If you happen to be in Berlin come around, I’ll make sure to have a coffee or a cold beer ready.

In the last months I had the great pleasure (and I mean it!) to work on my first video game score. The Bear - A Story From the World of Gra is a cute and lovely bedtime story created by the wonderful people at @mucksgames Creating interactive music that adapts to the way the player plays the game was challenging but also great fun. Now the soundtrack is out and you can hear the music - linearly. If you want to experience the interactive version, the game will be out next week on iOS.

In 2022 I wrote a funk tune for bigband. In 2023 a bunch of awesome musicians from Mannheim were so kind to record it. In 2024 I finally got to mix it, so I can share it with you. Everytime I get to compose for bigband I enjoy it a lot, but this is the first straight ahead funk tune I wrote. I hope you like it! When doing a little shooting to have some pictures for the @subchromatik launch, this one came out as well. Looks like @joschabongard, who shot and edited the pictures, is not only an amazing film director but also a pretty decent photographer. Also it was the first time I did something like a deliberate photo shooting. Felt awkward in the first moment, but then pretty soon it was just fun, so thanks Joscha 🫶.

Today Soil comes out. I decided to release my electronic music under a dedicated artist name from now on, it’s called @subchromatik and Soil is the first single I release with this new project. I really hope you like it! You can buy it on Bandcamp or Beatport or wherever you like and also stream it on all major platforms. It has been mastered by the wonderful @stefan_fatcat so that’s why it sounds so punchy.
