This is what we refer to as "a pretty plate" here at 12 Baskets. One of our community members, William, lovingly put together this plate for a friend. We are so thankful for all who work to make 12 Baskets a beautiful place to be. Join us TOMORROW from 11 am to 1 pm for a hot sit down meal. This past semester, our Realities of Poverty Education program partnered with a class from Warren Wilson College on a "Rising Project." This consisted of students immersing themselves in the cafe space and creating a profile of our community educators. As students shared their reflections, they highlighted the invaluable experiences and lessons learned from our educators and activities at 12 Baskets Cafe. We are thankful to all for helping to create such meaningful and transformative learning experiences. For today's "Faces of 12 Baskets" we are highlighting Ronnie, Ray, and Ryan! Ronnie has been helping us out at 12 Baskets for years! You will most likely see him sweeping and dancing but he's always happy to lend a hand anywhere in the cafe! Ray and Ryan are the facilitators of our Monday music jam (pictured here every Monday at 1 pm). Ray is also a member of our stellar dish pit and Ryan can be found socializing and doing odd jobs. Are you wanting to give back and create community with 12 Baskets Café but you don't know where to start? Good news! We invite you to New Volunteer Orientation tomorrow (and every Thursday) at 10 am at the cafe. This orientation session is specifically designed for those new to volunteering at 12 Baskets Café. Learn about our mission, the impact we make, and how you can play a crucial role in serving the community. Following the orientation, new volunteers will have the opportunity to immediately apply their knowledge during a volunteer shift from 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM. This is a hands-on experience to actively contribute to our mission of addressing poverty and fostering a sense of community. We've also built in time for new volunteers to enjoy lunch with their neighbors. It's not just about serving others but fostering connections within the community. We'll explore how our work at the café directly addresses poverty and builds the foundation for a Beloved Community

AMAZING night this past Thursday @oneworldbrewing for our community celebration! 🎉 We feel honored to have provided 200 meals to our friends and neighbors from @yalla.asheville and El Tacontento. We had entertainment hosted by @cleverwhatevergirl and @jacobetherrien featuring readings from our Friday Writing group @moonlight_cheese_alliance and live music from our Monday Music group. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a celebration to remember!
